Personalized Hangers

Materials & Costs
6 Hangers - Free, I took them from my closet, can cost anywhere from $5 to $20 depending on where you get them
Ribbon, Fabric, Flowers, Guitar Picks to decorate - Free, left over from other projects
2 packages of 12 guage jewelry wire - $4.99/ea from Michaels
Needle-nose pliers - if you have flat ones that would work best, mine had little ridges and left a few indents in my wire
Drill with drill bit the right size for your wire
Hot Glue Gun & Glue
Total cost: $10, more if you have to buy the hangers and decorations new
1. Find a cursive font you like and print out the names you're using in a large font size.  To help me with the sizing, I set my word document to 100% and held up my hanger in front of the computer screen to make sure the name would fit
2. To measure the lead flat piece of wire, set your hanger on top of the page with the name and center it, unroll the first bit of wire and measure a length long enough to go from just past the inside edge of the hanger to the beginning of the first letter (so you have something to attach the wire to the hanger with), start bending the name here.
3. Use your fingers and pliers to bend the wire into the shape of the letters, I found it easiest to 'trace' the words with the wire rather than eyeball it.
4. When the name is done, repeat step 2 to make sure you have enough wire at the end to attach to the hanger (1/4 to 1/2 an inch will do) and cut the wire
5. Drill a hole into the hanger straight up on either side, being careful not to go through the top.
6. Place one end of the wire into one of the holes and then bend it straight (should make a little 90 degree angle in your wire)
7. Eyeball how far up the wire you'll need to do a similar bend at the other end.  You should end up with a piece of wire sticking straight up at either end so that it slides nicely up into the holes you drilled.
8. Make sure your glue gun is good and hot, then squeeze a small glob of glue into the first hole and immediately slide in one of the stuck-up pieces of wire, hold for a few seconds until set
9. Repeat with the other side.
10. Decorate the hangers as you like, I did mine all different using ribbon, fabric, flowers, guitar picks and leftover wire.  I think the images show them all pretty well, I made the green circle flower thing out of ribbon that I folded on top of itself a bunch of times then tied with a small piece of white ribbon in the middle and glued the top and bottom together...if that makes sense...
Sorry the pics are sideways, I can't figure out how to make them go right side up...
